Sessions will be held in all regions of SC
The S.C. Department of Natural Resources has scheduled a series off scoring sessions for whitetail deer across the Palmetto State in March.
The SCDNR scores racks every march and adds more animals to the state’s all-time record book. Minimum scores for state-record listing are 125 points for typical animals and 145 points for non-typicals — scored according to the Boone and Crockett Club’s system.
The record book currently lists 6,717 typical racks and 278 non-typicals, with 213 deer added during the 2017 scoring seesions.
Hunters must provide documentation, such as the date and county of kill, and they must sign a “fair chase” statement. Antlers in velvet, or those that have been broken and repaired — or antlers that have been separated from the skull plate — cannot be measured.
