Electronics will help spot spotted bass

A good depth-finding unit can not only locate fish on its sonar side, but its GPS unit can help return fishermen to the exact same spots, time after time.

Electronics are critical when it comes to finding the deep-water structure that spotted bass prefers. While angler Chase Simmemon of Fair Play uses the Lowrance HDS 12, many other brands also work well for locating structure and finding fish.

“Good electronics have changed the game for fishing.” Simmemon said. “The GPS capabilities of these units saves hundreds of hours and gallons of gas looking (for fish). I can put in the coordinates and know that I will drive to within 18 inches of the location. That alone builds confidence in me before I ever leave the dock.”
