Fool the fowl with a variety of blocks

You don’t need a lot of decoys if you’ve got the right kind and arrange them so passing ducks will feel safe landing.

Types of decoys are mostly a personal preference, however, finding decoys that will fool ducks is of the utmost importance.

Some waterfowl hunters prefer hand-carved wood, others cork and still others some of the more modern, plastic designs. Diehard hunters often choose wood, cork or burlap, but it’s mostly a matter of personal preference.

Some hunters argue that the more traditional the decoy, the better they fool ducks. Others like the lightweight and durability of plastic decoys. Many excellent companies make some fine decoys; shells, flags, solid bodies, 3-D and two-dimensional all have their place.

I prefer a decoy I never have to replace. The cork body, burlap-wrapped decoys of Fowl Foolers are hard to beat. They look realistic, come is a wide array of poses and species and have brought hundreds of ducks within gun range for me.
