SC deer hunters find human remains

Deer hunters in Sumter County, SC found human remains in a tarp on a remote trail.

The victim was killed by multiple gunshots

While hunting in Borden, SC in Sumter County during late November, six deer hunters found a gruesome discovery. After catching a whiff of a terrible odor, one of the hunters noticed a tarp on a lightly-used trail. Fearing the worst, the hunter peaked into the tarp and discovered what he believed to be human remains, and called 911.

The Sumter County Coroner’s Office confirmed it was indeed a human body. Autopsy reports showed the victim was a male that had been shot multiple times, resulting in his death.

Officials believe the victim was killed somewhere else, then brought in the tarp to a section of woods off of Cimmaron Road. An investigation is still underway to determine who killed the man.
