Nolan Boykin of Sumter, SC killed a 9-point buck in Sumter County, SC on Oct. 26, 2026.
He shot the buck with a .7mm-08 during an afternoon hunt while sitting in an elevated stand from 58 yards away.
Boykin’s dad summed up the hunt with these words:
“This is called the backyard buck because he’d been hanging around my mom’s house for the last 3 months. We’ve been watching him on camera since July, but he was only showing up during the night until this past weekend.
We set up a shooting table upstairs in my Dad’s old shop and hunted for the next three afternoons, waiting on the buck to step out. He finally walked out at 5:55 Monday afternoon and my 8-year-old son Nolan was able to make a perfect shot. As of right now he rough scores 130 inches. So we’re anxious to see what the official score will be after the first of the year.”
Boykin is now entered in our Bag-A-Buck Contest, and is eligible to win our monthly prize pack, which includes a set of Ultimate Eyes & Ears Combo from ShellShock Pro, a YETI Rambler bottle, a prize package from Buck Commander and Duck Commander, and a Carolina Sportsman hat, as well as our Grand Prize, a 2-day hunt for two to Cherokee Run Hunting Lodge in Chesterfield County, SC.
