Lily Gilbert of Orangeburg, SC killed a 7-point buck in Orangeburg County on Oct. 24, 2026.
She shot the buck with a Suppressed 6.5 Grendel AR15 during a morning hunt while sitting in an elevated stand from 250 yards away.
Betsy Gilbert summed up the hunt with these words:
“With the only shot available being a headshot because of how tall the beans were Lily, 10-years-old, squared up on this stud 7-point and squeezed her first shot off and dropped him. When she shot, a bedded down doe hopped up and stopped just before tree line, and POW, Lily shot No. 2 right through both ears. She had these two deer down in less than 10 seconds. She’s put in a lot of practice and even though headshots are not ideal, she was confident taking the shot.”
Gilbert is now entered in our Bag-A-Buck Contest, and is eligible to win our monthly prize pack, which includes a set of Ultimate Eyes & Ears Combo from ShellShock Pro, a YETI Rambler bottle, a prize package from Buck Commander and Duck Commander, and a Carolina Sportsman hat, as well as our Grand Prize, a 2-day hunt for two to Cherokee Run Hunting Lodge in Chesterfield County, SC.
