Youth hunter bags massive 6-point buck

Charlie Rivers of Cheraw, SC killed a 6-point buck in Chesterfield County, SC on Oct. 18, 2026.

He shot the buck with a CVA Cascade 300 blackout during an evening hunt while sitting on the ground from 40 yards away.

Rivers’ uncle summed up the hunt with these words:

“Charlie Rivers harvested this massive 6-point buck while hunting with his uncle Bryant Rivers on Oct. 17. What makes this even more special is that this was Charlie’s first deer.

This was their second time hunting this particular deer since the buck first appeared on their trail camera on Oct. 7. During this hunt, they had already seen a few deer and were watching a small buck feeding out in front of the blind. The next deer that appeared was a doe. A few minutes later, another deer was spotted walking toward the clearing. Bryant quickly recognized the buck and told Charlie to get ready. The buck walked out and stopped, giving Charlie the perfect opportunity to take the shot.

Bryant could tell the shot was good, and they called to tell Charlie’s dad what just happened. They decided to stay in the blind and let their nerves settle while waiting for the tracking team to arrive. Both of Charlie’s parents, his little brother, and grandfather got to be there to track and recover the deer, which weighed 170 pounds and had a 19¼-inch inside spread.”
