Koy Jennings Williams of Hatteras, NC killed an 8-point buck in Indian Woods, Bertie County on Oct. 24, 2026.

He shot the buck with a .7mm-08 youth model Ruger with Vortex scope during an afternoon hunt while sitting in an elevated stand from 120 yards away.

Williams’ dad summed up the hunt with these words:

“We sat in line at the ferry dock ( emergency ferry ) in Rodanthe from 5 pm until 2am before we boarded. We didn’t sleep until Saturday night. He shot the buck at 5:15 Saturday afternoon and I was recording the hunt with him. We were sitting in the same spot he killed his giant 8 last year, the mountain arrived in Greenville yesterday afternoon. However, this big 8 was going the opposite way checking his scrapes! Koy asked me if he was a shooter, I said get your gun up, scrolling close as possible I witnessed the impact shot and the donkey kick! However, after buck fever wore off I realized that I forgot to push record on my phone;( classic buck fever times two! Such an amazing experience watching your only son follow your footsteps 10 years faster than I was doing it!!!!!!”

Williams is now entered in our Bag-A-Buck Contest, and is eligible to win our monthly prize pack, which includes a set of Ultimate Eyes & Ears Combo from ShellShock Pro, a YETI Rambler bottle, a prize package from Buck Commander and Duck Commander, and a Carolina Sportsman hat, as well as our Grand Prize, a 2-day hunt for two to Cherokee Run Hunting Lodge in Chesterfield County, SC.
