Check your trail camera after dark

Trail cameras set near bedding areas can give hunters a better idea of where to set up after the peak of the rut passes.

Hunters use game cameras to monitor deer movements and identify mature bucks.

When placing a trail camera near bedding areas, it is imperative to place them where they can be checked without disturbing the deer. Under normal situations, most hunters check their cameras in the middle of the day when deer movement is usually low; however when setting them near bedding areas, going to check cameras at mid-day can alert deer bedded nearby to your presence.

A good thing to consider is checking your cameras after dark. By moving in during the dark, replacing SD cards and getting out, you are less likely to spook game in the area. Remember to stay as scent free as possible when checking your cameras. The benefit of the cameras is worth the expense and effort.
