Organization puts smiles on hunter’s faces

Hands of a Sportsman is a non-profit organization based in Salisbury, N.C. that believes everyone should share in the beauty of adventure in our great outdoors. They’ve recognized that some would-be hunters and anglers don’t have it as easy as the rest of us, but they fill the gap, and “put smiles on the faces of those taking on some of life’s toughest challenges.”

This past October, Hands of a Sportsman (HOAS) partnered with Deep Woods Hunting Club for a ldeer hunt in Moore County. Each member of the club prepared stands to help those less fortunate enjoy a day of deer hunting!

“This is our way of giving back and volunteering our time as outdoorsmen,” said Deep Woods president Joshua Dunn

Each member was assigned a hunter, responsible for helping all participants get to and from the stand safely. The club also provided additional volunteers who served lunch to all guests. Of the nine lucky hunters selected to participate, three were able to harvest deer on the hunt.

“These folks want the opportunity to go and hunt,” HOAS Founder David Hinceman said. “We have to thank Deep Woods for participating and helping us create a model that other hunt clubs, in North Carolina and beyond, can follow. Their participation helped change lives.”
