Clearing access to your tree stand is an often-overlooked details that can make a difference when it’s time to hunt.
Chad Simpson of Hendersonville, N.C., believes this little task makes a big difference especially when hunting near feeding areas or bedding areas.
“The time it takes to blow the path is minimal and really lets me slip into the stand totally undetected.” said Simpson, who said that a little cleaning will be necessary after leaves begin to fall.
A typical path to a stand is not difficult to keep clean, especially with a backpack blower. At about two feet wide, some of Simpson’s trails that are several hundred yards long only take 15 minutes to clear with a blower.
“The little details make all of the difference when it comes to killing giant bucks.” Simpson said.
Marking the trail for daylight or night entry and exit can be as easy as hanging flagging ribbon or using reflective tacks.
