Wear a harness!

Despite their ease of operation and availability, only 40 percent of hunters use safety harnesses when hunting from elevated stands.

Even with the market flooded with easy-to-wear safety harnesses and many models from which to choose, only 40 percent of hunters wear one when hunting from an elevated stand.

Hunters Safety Systems, Muddy Outdoors and Summit, along with a few others have made the use of safety harnesses easy to use and as excuse-proof as possible. Comfortable, lightweight and affordable, there really is no reason why hunters do not wear them when hunting aloft.

With the advent of the lineman’s belt, wearing a safety harness when hanging stands is also a good idea. With a lineman’s belt, both hands are free and a stand can be hung in much less time and in a more secure manner. There’s no sense in hanging from limbs by one hang while trying to get a strap around a tree to secure a stand.
