Victor Marrow’s Halifax County buck

I am submitting this photograph of a buck I harvested on Nov. 14, 2020, in Halifax County, North Carolina, just outside of the Town of Enfield. He was harvested on the property of my great grandparents, John Wesley Johnson and Rebecca Brinkley Johnson.

The local hunting clubs nicknamed him “Granddaddy.” I renamed him the “Victor A. Marrow Buck.”

The meat processor verified his hanging weight at 190 lbs. It took three of us grown men to drag him out of the field onto my truck.

Shot distance: 210 yards
Rifle: Browning A-Bolt 7mm
Bullet: 150 grain Winchester Ballistic Silvertip
Feet traveled after being shot: 0 feet

I turned 64 years old this past Saturday, and I am so thankful that I was able to harvest this deer on the family farm. For me, he’s the buck of a lifetime.
