Brannan killed 9-point buck in Upstate, SC

Easton Brannan is the winner of our montly Bag-A-Buck Contest for September with his 9-point buck that he killed in Anderson County, SC.

Brannan killed the buck on Sept. 15 with archery gear and a kayak, then entered the contest with his post titled “9-point buck takes a kayak ride.”

Brannan used his Hobie peddle-drive kayak to reach a section of public land, where he used a 30-year-old climbing stand.

“With 10 minutes or so of shooting light left, a 9-point buck came cruising the banks,” said Brannan. “After seeing my kayak, he seemed slightly spooked and ran right underneath my tree. He walked off and gave me a great quartering away, 20-yard shot.”

After taking the shot, Brannan climbed down where a heavy downpour kept him from finding a blood trail. Luckily, he found the buck about 70 yards away, belly up.

“I’d hit the liver, lungs and heart, all in one shot without a pass-through, and with no blood trail,” he said.

Brannan then carried the deer to his kayak and peddled for 25 minutes back to his truck.

“It was truly a memorable hunt,” he said. “I feel very blessed to have this awesome opportunity and memories.”
