Clewley first-day Palmetto Sportsmen’s Classic winner, second voting session now available

Don Clewley qualified for the SouthCarolinaSportsman.com Palmetto Sportsmen's Classic Users Choice Award by winning the first voting session yesterday. The second voting session began this morning.

Don Clewley’s 147-inch York County buck won the first of four voting sessions yesterday, making Clewley eligible for the SouthCarolinaSportsman.com Palmetto Sportsmens’ Classic Users Choice Award to be named next week.

The second voting session began this morning to qualify the second buck into the Users Choice finals. To vote, simply go to the dedicated Palmetto Sportsmen’s Classic page and choose “Photo Voting.” Choose your favorite from among the five choices, and your vote will be logged.

In the running for this second round of voting are:

• Austin Godwin – 131 7/8 inch, Orangeburg County
• Wesley Wells – 158 3/8 inches, Orangeburg County
• Frankie Barlett – 144 5/8 inches, Fairfield County
• David Wise – 162 4/8 inches, Calhoun County
• Clayton Branham – 162 6/8 inches, Kansas

The winner of this voting session will move on to the finals to begin Tuesday.

South Carolina Department of Natural Resources biologist Charles Ruth said more than 180 deer had been scored through two days of the Palmetto Sportsmen’s Classic, and he expected between 40 and 60 more deer to move through the scoring booth.

SouthCarolinaSportsman.com also is giving away a FREE CVA Electra muzzleloader today at 2 p.m. from among new users registering during the Palmetto Sportsmen’s Classic. Entries will be qualified for the accepted until the FREE drawing, and the winner will take the rifle home if present for the giveaway.

Show hours are 11 a.m. through 6 p.m. at the South Carolina State Fairgrounds.
