Jazz it up! Customize colors, flavors

Commercial dyes allow fishermen to color their soft-plastic baits in several different shades, including the ever-popular chartreuse.

Redfish feed by using both their sense of smell and their. Even though manufacturers have developed almost endless combinations of colors, anglers are always looking for something new to put more fish in the boat.

Luckily, products are available that allow anglers to change colors and add scent to their soft-plastic baits. Spike-It is a quick-dip product that both colors and adds scent to baits.

Anglers can create their own color combinations, as Spike-it offers a variety of color dips, including white, blue, black, chartreuse and red. Scents available are garlic, shrimp, gamefish and crawfish.

“The garlic scent makes a difference and allows me to get more bites,” she said.
