Anglers do not need club or school team to join Student Angler League
The 2021 Student Angler League Tournament Trail (SALTT) is open for registration. Heading into SALTT’s 8th season, more than 50 teams are returning. The heaviest numbers are in the high school division. About 10 teams from the middle school division (grades 5 – 8) graduated up to the high school division since last season. The elementary division (grades 1 – 4) is also very thin, currently having five teams registered.
Boat captains can fish, but only the kid’s fish count for the live-release weigh in. Up to two adults 21 or older are allowed on each boat. Registration is a one-time fee, and at each event, anglers can win gift cards of $1500+.
Everyone, including boat captains, are eligible for the free raffle, where each item is valued at $1000 or more.
SALTT is all about the kids having a positive experience on the water fish. The majority of, if not all, the boat captains are parents, relatives, or friends of the family. The species of choice include either freshwater bass or saltwater redfish.
The preseason tourney with Fellowship of Christian Athletes is Aug. 28, and the six-trail season begins on Sept. 11. You do not need a team or club at your school to participate. You can join any time during the year.
