A bait doesn’t always need a blade to buzz

Soft-plastic frogs can be “buzzed” over and through thick vegetation to catch bass.

While a buzzbait denotes a specific style of bait that carries a large blade that churns across the top of the water., other baits can be “buzzed” and often achieve a similar response.

In areas that have a lot of vegetation, a plastic frog can be cast deep into lilly pads or grass and cranked across the surface, its legs thrashing the water violently.

Propeller baits such as a Tiny Torpedo or Devil’s Horse can also be cast and retrieved as fast as possible to draw reaction strikes from bass similar to the kind a buzzbait will get.
