MARLIN FEVER takes Fabulous Fisherman’s prize

Day 2 of the 2026 Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament held out of Morehead City, NC was an exciting one for sure.

Several blue marlin have hit the scales in the past two days, but it was MARLIN FEVER’s 919.9-pounder that brought the biggest celebration. The crew won the Fabulous Fisherman’s Prize of $871,250 for bringing in the first blue marlin topping 500 pounds during this year’s event.

Capt. Cameron Guthrie was at the helm when they hooked up at 10:54 a.m. with angler Connor Daniel on the rod. At 1:23 p.m., the Big Rock announced the boat was headed to the scales with the blue marlin, which measured more than 135 inches in length.

This marks an all-time record at the Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament as the heaviest blue marlin ever weighed in the tournament’s 68-year history, topping the previous record of 914 pounds, which was caught during the 2019 event by TOP DOG.

If this remains the biggest of this year’s tournament, the team will win more than $6.2 million. Of course, with four full days of fishing left, you never know what can happen.
