Ryan Maltba kills Avery County 10-point buck

My name is Ryan Maltba. I grew up in Avery County and killed this deer on the farm I grew up on. I killed this deer on 11-22 of this year. I had this deer on camera maybe twice during early bow season but had kinda wrote him off as a lost cause for someone else to have. He is a 10 pointer not sure what he scores, never been a score guy as long as he gets the blood pumping. I got in a little late that morning than I wanted it was on the boarder of hard woods and an old clear cut but still got settled in good and seen 3 does about 7:15. I waited till about 8:30am and decided to rattle and nothing about 9.00am I decided to rattle again. It was maybe 15min later he was strolling in about 60 yards away in real thick brush. He headed up the hill to the right of me. I grunted 2 or 3 times and he never stopped. Finally I let out a big doe bleet, he stopped, looked and started back walking and went plain out of sight. The only thing I knew to do was grab those horns and tickle them slightly off to left of me. It wasn’t maybe a minute he started running strait down the hill. He stopped in some thick brush, licked a mountain laurel above his head and made a big scrape. He came around behind me into a laurel thicket and came out just to my left into and old road. I turned around and shot him at 15 yards with my Ruger 6.5 Creedmoor. He ran maybe 10 yards and fell into a rhododendron and his horns got hung.
