Over 500 youth shooters to compete in SCYSF event
Over 500 youth shooters will gather at The Clinton House Plantation this Saturday, Feb. 20 for a South Carolina Youth Shooting Foundation sporting clays tournament. Thousands of spectators are expected to attend.
The event will begin with a coaches meeting at 8 a.m. for the first rotation of shooters, followed by a safety meeting at 8:30 a.m. Warm-ups will begin at each team’s starting station at 9 a.m. For the second rotation of shooters, the coaches meeting begins at 11:30 a.m., the safety meeting is at noon, and warm-ups start at 12:30 at each team’s starting station. The 5-stand will not be available for warm-ups.
This is an all-day event.
The South Carolina Youth Shooting Foundation aims to instill life skills such as respect, ethics, sportsmanship, teamwork, focus, dedication, and commitment into today’s youth, and a variety of shooting sports is the means they use to deliver these lessons.

Donny Roth, who is a shooting instructor with Shotgun Sports Plus, is one of the sponsors, and will be on hand to see many of his students and former students compete. Roth became a tournament shooter in 1991, and has been teaching shooting sports since 2001. He offers individual and corporate shooting lessons, shooting schools, coach and instructor certification, course design and layout, and gun fitting.
