Deadline to apply for turkey hunts approaching

Lottery turkey hunts are available in both Carolinas

The deadline for turkey hunters to apply for 2021 lottery hunts is fast approaching. South Carolina hunters have until March 3 to apply. North Carolina hunters must apply by March 1.

Lottery hunts are held in areas that are highly managed to attract wildlife. These locales offer a high probability of success. They are especially valuable to hunters that don’t own their own land and are not members of hunt clubs. But all hunters can apply.

Applying for these hunts comes with a minimal cost of between $5 and $10. Numerous locations and numerous dates at each location are available. Some hunts are youth-only hunts and some are open to all hunters.

The deadline to apply for a South Carolina lottery turkey hunt is March 3. North Carolina hunters must apply be March 1.

South Carolina’s 2021 turkey hunting season begins March 22 on private lands in Game Zones 3 and 4, and ends April 30. In Game Zones 1 and 2, the season runs April 1 through May 10. Youth Season for Game Zones 3 and 4 is March 20 – 21. Youth Season in Game Zones 1 and 2 is March 27 – 28.

North Carolina’s 2021 turkey hunting season runs from April 10 through May 8. Their Youth Season is April 3 through April 9.
