Clinic held Aug. 5 in Marion County

The South Carolina Department of Natural Resources (SCDNR) strives to promote safe and responsible hunting as an integral part of the agency’s overall mission. To aid in that mission, SCDNR is hosting a free wing shooting clinic in Marion County on Friday, Aug. 5, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Participants of all wing shooting skill levels will learn how to safely handle and operate a shotgun, and the clinic will introduce all of the basic skills needed for a successful hunt. Target presentations will resemble actual field hunting situations and the local game warden will be on hand to review laws and safety tips. Those in attendance will have the opportunity to clean, cook, and sample the quail they have prepared. And some of the newest bird hunting gear will be on display for viewing and purchase.

The clinic is free of charge and lunch will be provided. Parents are welcome to stay during the clinic and join the participants for lunch afterward.

Participation is limited to the first 25 applicants ages ten to 17.
