• Identify your target and beyond before you shoot. What is beyond your target can become a serious disaster.
• Always point your left foot toward your intended target if you shoot right-handed. Use the opposite foot if you shoot left- handed.
• When you first pick out an incoming dove to shoot, concentrate on the dove’s head instead of its body to cut down on the possibility of shooting behind the bird.
• Let a dove approach so it is in shotgun range before you mount your gun to avoid flaring.
• Be conscious of pressing your cheek against your gun’s stock.
• Always follow through after you pull the trigger on a moving target.
• If you miss three shots in a row, try increasing your lead.Chances are you shot behind the dove.
• Use a sponge pad the size of an index card to slip in under your shirt to reduce bruises from shooting.
