Who’s ready to hunt deer?

Deer season is either open, or about to open, all across the Carolinas.

Deer season starts early in some Carolina counties

Deer season started last month in some South Carolina counties. And this month, it opens for some other counties in both states, at least for archery hunters. Here’s a breakdown for each state. Please note, these are the seasons for private land in each area.

South Carolina
Game Zone 1
Primitive Weapons: Oct. 1-10
Gun Hunts: Oct. 11-Jan. 1
Youth Days: Sept. 28, antlered deer only; Jan. 4, either-sex.

Game Zone 2
Archery: Sept. 15-30
Primitive Weapons: Oct. 1-10
Gun Hunts: Oct. 11-Jan. 1
Youth Days: Sept. 14, antlered deer only; Jan. 4, either-sex.

Game Zone 3
Archery and Gun: Aug. 15-Jan. 1
Youth Days: Aug. 10, antlered only; Jan. 4, either-sex.

Game Zone 4
Archery: Aug. 15-31
Gun Hunts: Sept. 1-Jan. 1
Youth Days: Aug. 10, antlered only; Jan. 4, either-sex.

North Carolina
Western
Archery: Sept. 7-Nov. 15

Gun: Nov. 30-Jan. 1

Northwestern
Archery: Sept. 7-Nov. 8

Central
Archery: Sept. 7-Nov. 1

Northeastern

NC Youth Day is Sept. 28, state-wide, and Nov. 28-29 in the Western Zone.
