As part of a year-long celebration the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources is hosting a Field Day on Saturday, June 4th at the James W. Webb Wildlife Center and Management Area near Garnett in Hampton County. The Webb Center was the first Wildlife Management Area (WMA) purchased by the State of South Carolina in 1941. Now, 75 years later, SCDNR provides quality public outdoor recreation opportunities on more than 1 million acres of land across the state in the WMA program.
To commemorate the 75th year milestone, the Field Day at the Webb Center will offer a number of special programs and activities led by the DNR’s Wildlife Section staff and other outdoor professionals. This event is designed to provide outdoor fun and learning for the whole family. The event is free and lunch is included. Participants will be able to take part in a number of different activities.

The event will start at 9 a.m. and ends at 2 p.m. Pre-registration is available and recommended, especially for activities that are space limited. Space limited activities include birding, reptile/amphibian programs, canoeing and wildlife photography. There will be plenty of other activities throughout the day that are not space limited. This event is a perfect opportunity to explore the Webb Wildlife Center, which is just one of the many Wildlife Management Areas across the state.
