Feature after fishing feature, inspired from their famous fiberglass lines, make the new Ranger RT198p a hard-core fisherman’s dream boat. It gets your attention with good looks and wins you over an excellent combination of features, storage, fishing space and attention to detail. There is performance, too, as the RT198p’s pad hull is rated for up to 150 horsepower.
The RT 198p is a fishing machine in the finest Ranger tradition, but with an aluminum hull, loaded with features that make it extremely fishable, yet affordable. At 19-foot-4 long and a 92- inch beam, the boat has a lot of storage and fishing room.
The front casting deck is broad and wide open, and the hull is stable enough to allow using it all; even to share it with a second fisherman. Under the bow deck is an extra-large locker, a cooler, the center rod box with room for rods up to 8 feet long, and a shorter rod locker on the port side.
The rear deck houses a bunch of storage as well, and it’s dedicated to fish and tackle. The heart of the rear deck is an oversized, aerated livewell with free-flow divider and automatic timer. Tackle bins are on each side, and a large, center hatch grants access below decks to the batteries, pumps and other systems.
All Rangers include upright, level flotation; there’s no wood anywhere. The floor and decks are all aluminum, and the aluminum transom is reinforced with Ranger’s Pultrusion TM fiberglass.
The RT198p is a complete package. It comes on a custom Ranger Trail trailer, with a Minn Kota Max 70 BG trolling motor, a Lowrance Hook 7 fishfinder in the console, a Dual Pro on-board three-way battery charger, a recirculating, divided livewell with timer, and everything else except rods, lures and a fishing license.
