NATURAL stole the show on Day 2 of the Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament, weighing in a 521.6-pound blue marlin and winning $828,750, the purse for first blue marlin to weigh 500 pounds or more during the 6-day event.

“It’s an amazing feeling. It’s epic. Just, bucket list. I had a lot of dreams about it, but I never thought it would really happen. The crew did an awesome job,” said Jonathan Fulcher, the angler who fought the blue marlin.

“We fished Monday all day and didn’t have a bite. Went back at it this morning, Just, out of the blue. Fought the fish for about 3 1/2 hours. Felt like I wasn’t going to make it, but I figured if I got out of the chair, somebody would kill me,” he said.

Fulcher is a veteran Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament angler

The crew made it to the weigh-in amidst a thunderstorm, but the rain couldn’t dampen their spirits. Fulcher said he was just one part of the team, and gave credit to Capt. Carl Beale and all of his fellow crew members.

“It was a thrill of a lifetime,” Fulcher said. “The guys all worked together. It’s just an amazing feeling. I’ve caught a few blue marlins, but this is the largest one I’ve caught for sure. It came in and automatically hit a plug on one of the short lines. We couldn’t really tell how big it was at first because of all the white water,” he said.

NATURAL’s blue marlin unseated yesterday’s 448.8-pound blue caught by FOLLOWING SEAS. If this blue marlin remains the biggest one weighed in at the end of the 2021 Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament, NATURAL will tack an additional $1.6 million to their winnings.

The tournament will crank back up at 9 a.m. Wednesday morning. Click here to follow the action live.
