Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament is off to fast start

Day 1 of the 2021 Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament featured the largest field of boats to ever participate in the annual event, now in its 63rd year. Of the 270 boats registered, 260 fished on the first day.

Bankwalker released the first fish of the day, a white marlin which earned them $5000 for the 1st Release prize. A total of 41 billfish were released including 27 blue marlin, eight white marlin, and six sailfish.

One blue marlin made it to the scales on Day 1. Following Seas weighed in a 448.8-pound blue, putting them at the top of the leaderboard at the end of the day. The Fabulous Fisherman’s Prize of $828,750 is still up for grabs to the first crew that weighs a blue marlin of 500 pounds or bigger.

In the Meat Fish categories, Low Profile banked $2000 for their 41.4-pound dolphin. Memories collected $1000 for their 38.5 dolphin. Bill Collector cashed in on the tuna category with a 52.3-pound yellowfin, good for $2000.

Outlier leads the release category with a total of 650 release points. Starflite is in second place with 525 points, and Bank Walker, which also has 525 points, is in third place.
