Rubber is kind to puppies

A rubber landing net is more fish-friendly to puppy drum or other species to be released.

A rubber net is the best choice for landing flounder and puppy drum. Lots of undersized fish lurk in the Upper Neuse and Trent rivers, and rubber nets do less damage to their slime coats than knotted monofilament nets.

Also, jig hooks don’t penetrate the fibers, as they do with monofilament. Freeing a jig that is stuck beyond the barb uses up fishing time and can result in frayed or frayed strands in a monofilament landing net.
