Capt. Jamie Rushing uses his depth finder to locate isolated piece of concrete well away from the main masses of sunken structure at an artificial reef.
Using a GPS unit only helps him to solve part of the puzzle, and if the structure consists only of one piece of concrete pipe, it can be difficult to locate even with the help of a sonar unit paired with a GPS unit.
Experienced anglers g pick up subtle clues, such as the presence of baitfish on the bottom, which might show them the location of such a tiny honey hole. The only way to confirm the presence of flounder is to drop a baitfish on a rig or bounce a jig on the bottom to see if it entices a strike.
