Limits on flounder are not the same throughout South Carolina’s waters.
According to the S.C. Department of Natural Resources regulations, the statewide regulations include a 14-inch total length size minimum, with a 20-fish daily creel limit, not to exceed 40 flounder per boat per day. Regulations change in the waters of Pawleys Inlet north to the northern terminus of Main Creek at Garden City Beach, where the limit is 10 fish per day, with a 20-fish daily limit per boat. Bag limits apply to rod-and-reel or gigging.
In addition, any type of artificial illumination produced by motor fuel-powered generators cannot be used while gigging or fishing for flounder in the waters of Pawleys Inlet north to the northern terminus of Main Creek at Garden City Beach.
