Numerous species being caught on Outer Banks
Here’s this week’s report from Sneaky Pete.
Lots of variety this week on the OBX. The Trout bite has still been good with a much larger class of fish lately. There are still small ones mixed in but we are seeing a lot more 18-20 inch fish on this moon cycle. We have also had some spectacular sight casting to huge schools of Spanish mackerel, false albacore, and moonfish on bait balls under birds.
Fly and light spin casting has been very productive in these situations. Red drum have been biting with the right conditions but they have all been over-the -lot fish in the 29-38 inch range. Cobia numbers haven’t improved much, but there are still a few being seen each day by the fleet, and we should start seeing more around structure soon.
