B’n’M unveils new catfish rods

B’n’M’s Silver Cat rods are designed to give fishermen targeting catfish a strong, sensitive rod.

A leader in the crappie and panfish industry, B’n’M Poles has unveiled a line of catfish rods. The Silver Cat series is the companies’ first move into the catfishing world.

“Several factors came together to get us looking into this market,” said Jack Wells, the company’s president. “One, a lot of our customers fish for crappie in the spring and then switch over to catfish when the weather gets hot. The second was that these and other anglers have been looking for a strong, yet sensitive rod, and we felt like we could do something for this market.”

The Silver Cat Series offers 7- and 8-foot spinning and casting models constructed of high-quality medium-action fiberglass blanks that feature cork grips and aluminum oxide guides with ceramic inserts. The tip sections feature a glow-in-the-dark coating that helps anglers see them in the dark.

“Like crappie fishing, catfishing has become more than a one-pole affair. Anglers are using multiple rods to troll or multiple rods or to anchor up and fish a wide range of water depths. They need more than one rod, and what we saw was a need for a good rod at a good price,” said Wells.
