Angler recognition programs

NC, SC recognizes outstanding catches

Did you know that North and South Carolina both have Angler Recognition Programs? This program recognizes catches that aren’t quite big enough to break the state records, but are still outstanding catches.

The criteria for receiving an angler recognition award varies by species.

South Carolina anglers looking to certify a catch for recognition can go to dnr.sc.gov/fishaward/index.html. The SCDNR handles the program for both freshwater and saltwater fish caught in South Carolina waters.

North Carolina anglers will find instructions at ncwildlife.org/fishing/fishing-records/nc-angler-recognition-program for their freshwater catches. Saltwater catches are governed by North Carolina’s Marine Fisheries Division. Register your NC saltwater catch at deq.nc.gov.
