Pier tournament on Folly Beach won by big Spanish, 5-1 aggregate
Christie Winge and Daniel Culpepper were the big winners in the 18th annual Big Kahuna Pier Fishing Tournament held Aug. 10 at Folly Beach Pier. Winge’s 2-pound, 14-ounces Spanish mackerel won the king mackerel category in the absence of any kings, and Culpepper had a five-fish aggregate catch of five pounds, one ounce, with a trout, two bluefish and two whiting.
Connie Frantz Connie Frantz earned Top Lady Angler Honors for her 1-pound whiting. Lilli Ray was Top Youth Angler with an 11-ounce whiting. Clarence Phillips landed a 2-pound, 1-ounce Spanish mackerel to take Top Senior Angler Honors.
The largest fish of the day was the 4-pound, 5-ounce black drum caught by Brandon Mullin that earned him Top Adult Angler honors.
