Pechmann Center in Fayetteville will be site of two fishing workshops in April

To help anglers improve their fishing skills, the N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission is offering two free fishing workshops in April at the John E. Pechmann Fishing Education Center in Fayetteville.

On April 11, the center will be the site of the 4th Annual Kayak Fish and Float Workshop from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Jerry Dilsaver and Mark Patterson of the North Carolina Kayak Fishing Association will instruct participants on:

•        Kayak safety and rigging

•        Inshore kayaking fishing

•        Kayak fishing for mackerel

•        Kayak fishing for bass

•        Kayaking basics for panfish

While participants will not kayak fish at the event, they will have an opportunity to test paddle a variety of popular kayak brands at Lake Rim. The Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing group will have burgers and hot dogs available for lunch for a small donation.

On April 14, the Commission, along with members of the Reel Men Fishing Team, will host a Bass Fishing Seminar from 6:30-9:30 p.m. Team member Jim Sheehan will discuss bass fishing with jigs, while teammate Mike Nadeau will focus on using soft plastics for bass.

Both seminars are free. Space is limited and pre-registration online is strongly encouraged. For more information about the seminars, contact Fisheries Educator Thomas Carpenter at 910-868-5003.

The John E. Pechmann Fishing Education Center is located at 7489 Raeford Road, across from Lake Rim.
