What do you need? What can you afford?
January can be really good for fishing or really cold and miserable. It seems like every year around boat show season, it is one extreme or the other. It’s either snowing or beautifully warm in the low 70s.
Those extremes make it a good time to break in a new boat and do some fishing when it is warm — or stock up on gear needed for the season when it is freezing cold. So instead of fishing advice, I’m offering up boat advice — what you may need to hit the lake with when fishing season hits.
First and foremost, it is really nice to have at least two boats. Yes I said it. If you are a bass fisherman, you need a bass boat and a small jonboat. Some fisherman may need even more boats: jet boats, saltwater boats, and tunnel hulls. The problem with this is we always want more than we can truly afford, so check your budget and try for two!Click here to read more on Boat-buying advice
