Jonathon Hodge of Burlington, NC killed a 14-point buck in Caswell County, NC on Sept. 13, 2026.
He shot the buck with a bow during a morning hunt while sitting on the ground from 32 yards away.
Hodge summed up the hunt with these words:
“Found the buck late June, shortly after I realized I was in his home territory after getting several day time pictures and they stayed consistent. I watched the deer for several months trying to watch every move he made and to learn as much as I could about him and how he operated. I knew if I got an opportunity at him I would only get one chance. Then here where are on Sunday, September 13, 2026 at 7:32 p.m. my chance came and it came quick. He stepped out with several other bucks. As soon as he steeped out we locked eyes with each other. While looking at him for a split second I could tell he knew he had been out smarted and it was his time. Don’t get me wrong I am very thankful god blessed me with him, but also disappointed that the chase is over with. His chapter may have ended that day, but the story truly just began.”
Hodge is now entered in our Bag-A-Buck Contest, and is eligible to win our monthly prize pack, which includes a set of Ultimate Eyes & Ears Combo from ShellShock Pro, a YETI Rambler bottle, a prize package from Buck Commander and Duck Commander, and a Carolina Sportsman hat, as well as our Grand Prize, a 2-day hunt for two to Cherokee Run Hunting Lodge in Chesterfield County, SC.
