Tyson Sheehan of Mooresville, NC killed an 11-point buck in Anson County, NC on Sept. 20, 2026.
He shot the buck with a Mathews Monster during an evening hunt while sitting in an elevated stand from 20 yards away.
Sheehan’s dad summed up the hunt with these words:
“Ty is 16 yrs old and this is his first season bow hunting. He got in the stand around 6 on Sunday night, September 20th. We had been hunting all weekend and saw some smaller bucks. We almost went home after the morning hunt. Glad we stayed. He saw does and smaller bucks come in all evening. The deer came in and was visible for about 10 minutes before he took the shot.
It was getting dark so he knew he needed to take a shot soon. Deer turned broadside and Ty was ready. He shot across his body to the right and made a great shot. Deet jumped when it was hit so he knew it was a good shot and hit the vitals. It ran up the hill to the right and he could hear it crashing through the woods back down the hill soon after. He called me and told me he shot a good one.
I left my stand and got over there about 20 minutes later. We found it within 5 minutes. He was so excited and so was I. Great father son hunting moment we will never forget.”
