Second-year huntress Riley Hughes kills early-morning gobbler

On April 3, with the sun just beginning to crack the horizon, youth huntress Riley Hughes connected on her first gobbler of 2021. It was the opening day of the Old North State’s youth turkey season. Hughes, of Deep Run, N.C., killed the gobbler in Craven County.

It’s the second year in a row that the young lady has killed an early-morning, early-season gobbler. During the 2020 season, she killed a big gobbler on her first ever turkey hunt. A week later, she tagged out for the season.

Congratulations to Hughes for continuing a good trend. Click here if you’d like your outdoor photos and story shared at Carolina Sportsman.
