6-year-old kills 21-pound gobbler

Gatlin Poland killed the gobbler in Orangeburg County

While participating in an NWTF hunt during South Carolina’s turkey hunting Youth Weekend, 6-year-old Gatlin Poland killed a prized gobbler.

Poland’s turkey weighed 21 pounds, sported a 10-inch beard, and had 1 3/8-inch spurs. The young hunter shot the bird in Orangeburg County with a Stevens 301 .410 using TSS shot.

Congratulations to Poland, who is now entered in our 2023 Tag-A-Turkey Contest.

This makes him eligible for our grand prize, which includes a 3-year subscription to Carolina Sportsman Magazine, a Thermacell prize package, a Convergent Hunting Solutions Bullet HP Bluetooth predator call, and numerous other prizes.
