I got set up right at 5:50 a.m. and made a few calls. The turkey responded with a few gobbles, and two nice toms came straight to my single-hen decoy set up 30 yards away. I shot the biggest of the two at 7 a.m., 35 yards from me. The bird weighed 17 pounds, and sported an 11 1/4-inch beard. His left spur measured 1 5/16 inches, and his right spur was 1 5/8 inches long.
He is the biggest of three birds I have taken. Check out the hunt on YouTube at jakoutdoors.
