Seventeen-year-old Jay Carrick killed a 22-pound gobbler along the Mayo River bottoms near Mayodan, NC during the 2024 turkey hunting season. It was the young angler’s first solo turkey hunt. The big bird had three beards totaling 13 inches, and it had 1 1/2-inch spurs.
