Youth hunter shot the bird from 40 yards away
Eight-year-old Wyatt “Hawk” Flinchum harvested his first ever turkey on April 8, 2024 during an evening hunt in Stokes County, NC. The young hunter was in a blind with his dad Aaron and Uncle Andy when he pulled the trigger on his Rossi .410 shooting Federal TSS. He shot the bird, which weighed 20.7 pounds, had a 9-inch beard and 1-inch spurs, at 40 yards.
“We used a Sunrize Custom Calls pot call and a jake-and-hen decoy set to get the job done on a cloudy/solar eclipse afternoon,” said Aaron Flinchum.
