Thanksgiving Hunt

We got a later start to the box that morning than we like. Didn’t really expect to see anything because of that. We sat for all of 10 minutes when this buck stepped out I had saw him on my camera a few times, but mostly during the night. I was hunting with a savage 350 legend. The deer was about 60 yards when I shot him, we saw him roll in the corn pile. However, to our surprise he got back up. We gave him some time, and then began to track him. We tracked him about 200 yards before jumping him up, but he didn’t go far. We decided to back out and let him lay. We called in our local drone recovery service. He flew his drone and found him where he laid back down. We finally went to retrieve the deer. I was so happy to find him. We discovered my shot was a little low. However, it was still a big buck down. He’s a great deer and my biggest to date. The most interesting part of the hunt was getting sprayed in the mouth with dead down wind by my lovely fiancé to start out the morning. The best part was getting to experience this moment with him. We have a story to tell for years to come.
