Snow Camp hunter kills 13-point monster

Trevor White of Snow Camp, NC killed a 13-point monster buck on Oct. 19, 2022 in Alamance County. The big deer has been green-scored at 155 1/8 inches.

White shot the buck at 18 yards with his Barnett crossbow while perched in a tree stand overlooking a wooded area. The deer ran about 100 yards before falling dead. It was a deer White was familiar with, through trail cameras and also through a few in-the-flesh encounters.

He even had a couple of other chance to take shots at the deer. But he didn’t feel they were high-percentage shots, so he opted to wait, hoping for better luck next time.

“I had trail cam pictures for 3 years. Then I saw him for the first time in the flesh this year. I had two other opportunities to shoot this deer that same week. But neither one presented a clear and confident shot. Patience paid off,” he said.
