Darrell Turner’s NC buck

Darrell Turner

Big buck showed up unexpectedly

Darrell Turner of Randleman, NC killed a 10-point buck in Randolph County on Sept. 13, 2024 during an evening hunt. The buck has been green-scored at 142 inches. He shot the buck from 30 yards away with a crossbow while hunting from the ground.

Turner had never seen this deer before that hunt. He was watching a different deer when this buck appeared, already in shooting range.

“I had never seen this deer before. I looked down after watching a pretty 8-pointer in the distance, and when I looked up, he was 30 yards away,” he said.
