Charmin Stroud’s 13-point buck

13-point buck was first-time visitor

Charmin Stroud of Branchville, S.C. killed a 13-point buck in Orangeburg County on Sept. 14, 2022 during an early morning hunt.

Stroud shot the buck with a 50-yard shot from her bull barrel .30-06 after steadying the crosshairs of her Burris 3×9 scope on the big deer. She was in an elevated stand overlooking a bait pile when she noticed the deer step into view.

She’d never seen the buck before – not on trail cameras or in the flesh – until the day of the hunt.

It was one of those hunts where things seem to naturally fall into place.

“He came out about 6:20 a.m. and I watched him until about 6:55. I put the scope on him and took him down at 6:58,” she said.
