Julian Locklear of Red Springs, NC killed a 9-point buck in Hoke County, NC on Sept. 25, 2026.
He shot the buck with a Seekins Precision Pro Hunter 6.5 Creedmoor Julia during an evening hunt while sitting in an elevated stand from 100 yards away.
Locklear’s dad summed up the hunt with these words:
“The first action was a young 4pt buck that stepped out around 6:30pm. They watched him for about 10min before 6 does made their way to the corn pile to feed. After about 15min of watching them they started acting a little nervous, and anxious.
Then around 7:00pm the big buck they were hunting stepped out about 40yards in front of them, as he made his way to the does, they had to watch and wait for the buck to give him a good clear shot. After watching the buck for what felt like forever he finally turned broadside. With his dad talking him through the shot, keeping him calm he was able to make a good shot and dropped the buck.”
Locklear is now entered in our Bag-A-Buck Contest, and is eligible to win our monthly prize pack, which includes a set of Ultimate Eyes & Ears Combo from ShellShock Pro, a YETI Rambler bottle, a prize package from Buck Commander and Duck Commander, and a Carolina Sportsman hat, as well as our Grand Prize, a 2-day hunt for two to Cherokee Run Hunting Lodge in Chesterfield County, SC.
